I had the best time last week at wine school with the gang from iYellow Wine Club. Have you heard of them before? They offer wine tasting events, local wine tours, and of course wine school here in Toronto. Check out their website and see all the amazing things they are up to. If you are a wine lover like me then totally get involved and be a part of it!
The night exceeded my expectations and I had heaps of fun! We met at Marben, sat around a large table, introduced ourselves and got down to business. We tasted 6 local Ontario wines, 3 white and 3 red. We learned about the look of each, we talked about the nose and tried to pick out all the different scents together, and then the best part – we tasted.
While we sipped on our wines and chatted, we snacked on amazing charcuterie and cheeses from Marben – it was an awesome night! My two faves from wine school were The Creekside 2010 Sauvignon Blanc from Jordan and Coyote’s Run 2009 Pinot Noir from Niagara-on-the-lake. I would not hesitate to buy these from the LCBO in a second.
What a great way to meet new people with similar interests and a great comfortable place to learn about the different wines out there. I would most def do another wine school again – it is 100% worth the $35.00 a class that they charge. They have one class left in their fall term of discovering local wines – sign up here and have an awesome time!
