Make Your Own Aguas Frescas!

Aguas Frescas or homemade infused water is an amazing non-alcoholic beverage option for any Holiday cocktail party! Watching your weight this Holiday season? These calorie-free flavoured waters, are not only fast and easy to prepare, but you can also get creative and infuse with holiday-inspired ingredients like mint or cranberry!

Here are some tips to make your own Aguas Frescas!

1) Combinations count – Use any combination of fruits, veggies, herbs, flowers or roots. Try cranberries and citrus, or for a hot drink, try apple slices with cinnamon sticks. Feel free to add a sweetener such as honey or agave nectar!

2) Select your water – Water quality affects the taste of any beverage. A pure artisan water such as FIJI Water is ideal for enhancing the flavour and health benefits of your recipe.

3) Infuse – After muddling your ingredients together begin the decoction (mean”to cook”) or steeping in boiling water. Cover and let stand for several hours. Monitor some herbs after 10 minutes to ensure their flavour doesn’t overpower the water.

4) Smooth finish: Use a mesh strainer to remove all solids from the liquid. Chill or serve hot for a winter treat!

I chose to make two kinds today – Cranberry Orange Mint and Lemon Lime Pomegranate. I added honey to each batch to sweeten them up a bit. The smell in the house is amazing while you make this.
If you have the time consider making it the day you have your friends and family over for the holidays so its the first thing they smell when they walk in.
Enjoy and please let me know what flavour combinations you chose. Have a fantastic Holiday and all the best for the New Year! x
